What you need to know
You can apply to come to the UK if you are the family member of a British citizen who has been living and exercising their treaty rights in a member state and now wishes to return to the UK.
A family member can be defined as:
- Your spouse (husband or wife) or civil partner
- Your parent or grandparent (or their spouse or civil partner) – you must also be under 21 years old or dependent on them
- Your child or grandchild (or their spouse or civil partner) – you must be dependent on them
- A person who is adopted and that adoption is recognised in UK Law
If you have previously applied for and were granted a Surinder Singh Residence Card this will no longer be valid after 30th June 2021 and you will need to apply under the EU Settlement Scheme in order to continue to live in the UK.
