Success Stories

A selection of matters where careful assessment, clear strategy and specialist representation made the difference for our clients.

Mr J

Spouse entry clearance for a settled sponsor

Mr J held settled status in the UK and wanted to bring his wife to join him. He had previously sponsored a partner while he only had limited leave, and several firms told him that history would block a fresh application. After a detailed assessment, we identified the strongest way to present his circumstances and supporting evidence.

Application approved - his wife joined him in the UK.

Mrs S

In-country leave to remain on the 5-year route

Mrs S, a US national married to a British citizen with two dependent children, was already in the UK with her family. Other firms told her she would need to leave the country to protect her place on the five-year settlement route. We prepared an in-country application, drawing on the relevant Immigration Rules and case law.

Leave to remain granted on the five-year route - without leaving the UK.

Mr T

Replacement vignette during travel restrictions

We helped Mr T secure entry clearance for his wife, but travel restrictions meant she could not fly to the UK before her vignette expired. VFS in her home country said it could not help and that a brand-new application would be required - a costly setback while Mr T was unemployed during the pandemic. We intervened and applied the Immigration Rules carefully.

Replacement vignette secured - the original grant was preserved.

Mr M

Skilled worker switch completed in 37 days

Mr M was in the UK as a skilled worker with his family and needed to switch to a new employer. Other firms made the process sound far more complex than it was, leaving him expecting high fees and lengthy delays. At the initial assessment we quickly saw that he had been misled, gave him a competitive fixed fee, and moved the matter forward without delay.

From instruction to decision in 37 days.

Mrs H

Priority spouse entry clearance in 8 weeks

Mrs H needed entry clearance as a spouse. She had already sold her home in the US and enrolled her children in UK schools, so timing was critical. Instructed on a priority basis, we completed and submitted her application without delay.

Completed, submitted and decided within eight weeks.

Miss O

Successful appeal after repeated refusals

Miss O entered the UK as a student and had lived here for many years. Several previous applications with other firms had all been refused - most recently because she had spent 18 years in the UK rather than the 20 years required under the Immigration Rules. Others told her an appeal would not succeed. We advised her to appeal, prepared detailed grounds and evidence, and our senior barrister represented her at the hearing.

Appeal allowed - leave to remain granted after 18 years in the UK.

Mr C

EU Settlement Scheme without a passport or ID card

Mr C, an EU national who arrived in the UK in the early 1990s, no longer had a valid identity card and had never obtained a National Insurance number. His embassy could not issue a replacement ID because no registration records existed from when he left his home country. He feared he could not make a valid EU Settlement Scheme application. We obtained confirmation of nationality from his embassy and applied under the scheme without a passport or ID card.

Settled status granted - then a passport and National Insurance number followed.

Company F

Urgent sponsor licence and skilled worker visa

Company F needed a sponsor licence and a skilled worker visa for a candidate already selected through recruitment. Time was critical: the worker had to give notice to their current employer. We lodged an expedited sponsor licence application, securing an A-rating for the company, then progressed the worker’s in-country application.

A-rated sponsor licence - new visa terms within five days.

Miss D

Indefinite leave to remain despite a missing police certificate

Miss D was ready to apply for indefinite leave to remain after five years’ continuous residence, but she had misplaced her police registration certificate. Covid restrictions made obtaining a replacement difficult. We structured the application so it could proceed without a current certificate and arranged an appointment at her local police station for a replacement.

ILR approved - now instructed on naturalisation.

Mrs P

EU settled status after decades of UK residence

Mrs P, a European national, had lived in the UK since the 1970s, with some time each year spent in her home country. Arriving back before 31 December, she was told she needed to apply under the EU Settlement Scheme. She began the process believing she could only qualify for pre-settled status. We gathered evidence from HMRC, the Land Registry and GP archives to demonstrate her long residence.

Eligible for - and granted - settled status.
